More Sly Fashion: Weddings
« on: September 08, 2008, 01:07:50 PM »
So I'm going to a wedding this weekend and I want to look good. I've never bought a suit / nice clothes before, and I need help! I would love to go to Nordstrom's...but the closest one is about an hour and a half away. Can any of you fashionable, sly guys give me a run down on how to dress what to look for?

Look for a place that offers tailoring. Even a few nips and tucks can make a big difference in how clothing fits.

Also I've found that those staffed with ladies or gentlemen in the more senior years of their life are very helpful and knowledgeable. Young kids and hot babes will sell you what they get the best commission on -- seasoned veterans will sell you what looks good!

I'm with bootedbear on this one.  If you can't find a place like that in your area, then go to Men's Wearhouse.  My suggestion would to be a Navy Blue suit with a slight pen stripe if this is going to be your only suit for now.  Here's a link to what I mean: http://tinyurl.com/navybluesuit

I'm with bootedbear and Tyler, I own 3 suits, 2 from Men's wearhouse which were fitted. and 1 custom taylored suit which cost me more than I wanted, but, I love wearing it. It fits so well

Don't be afraid to spend a little money, it will pay off in the long run. O0
I was told to think outside the box, how did I get in the box in the first place?

I second Tyler's recommendation for Men's Warehouse.  I've had great luck shopping there.

Me too....had an old korean guy who was the store taylor--didn't speak much English....he was even a little grouchy...

But he did a great job.

My vote would be Mens Warehouse too

that was a great deal on the whole combo you got there. MW is a good place, they have stood behind what they sell. I wrecked a pair of slacks (my fault for being dressed up from a wedding) when fighting a house fire and brought them in for some tailoring fix ups and a press/drycleaning and they did it all at no cost....Have gone back to them several times because of that.
